The Dockman Series: An Origin Story
Jerry and Garrick Wilson grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors, hard work, and the satisfaction of building something from the ground up. As young entrepreneurs, they first ventured into the business world with a landscaping company. However, their ambitions extended beyond the land—they were drawn to the water.
Their opportunity to pivot toward something bigger came when Great Lakes Lift, an aluminum boat lift manufacturer based in Caro, Michigan, saw potential in the two determined brothers. The company believed in their work ethic and vision, taking a chance on them as young entrepreneurs. With that vote of confidence, Jerry and Garrick expanded their operations, shifting their focus to boat docks and hoists. Water’s Edge Dock and Hoist was born.
What started as a small operation quickly gained traction, with word spreading across Livingston County. Their dedication to quality service and innovative solutions led to rapid growth. Beyond seasonal dock & boat hoist installation services, Water’s Edge Dock has grown to become a premier dealer of Great Lakes Dock and Lift products, and EZ Dock in Michigan.
The Wilson brothers didn’t just stop at building a successful business; they became pioneers in the industry.
